New Features: Interview Prep, Exam Prep, Role Play & GRC Tools

Over the past week we've shipped four major features for Pro members. Each one is designed around the same principle that drives the rest of TryGRCLabs: you learn GRC by doing it, not by reading about it.

Here's what's new and how to get the most out of it.

Interview Prep — GRC Coach

Landing a GRC role means performing in interviews, not just knowing the theory. Interview Prep generates realistic questions from an AI hiring manager and grades your written answers against a hidden rubric — the same way a real interviewer would evaluate you.

Choose from 17 rolesincluding GRC Analyst, IT Audit & Assurance, Privacy Operations, Security GRC Engineer, Third-Party Risk, AI Governance, Business Continuity, and more. Then pick a category — Behavioural, Technical, Scenario, or Framework-specific — and a difficulty level (Junior, Mid, or Senior).

After you submit your answer, the AI scores you out of 10 and returns a verdict (Strong, Solid, Developing, or Weak), a list of strengths and gaps, coaching feedback, and a model answer so you can see what a top response looks like. Every attempt is saved to your history so you can track improvement over time.

Exam Prep — Certification Practice Questions

Studying for a GRC certification shouldn't mean buying expensive question banks that go stale. Exam Prep generates fresh, domain-specific multiple-choice questions that match the style and depth of real certification exams.

We currently support 57 exams across every major certification body:

Every exam is broken into its official domains, so you can target the areas you're weakest in. Select a domain and difficulty (Foundation, Intermediate, or Advanced), answer the question, and get an instant explanation of why the correct answer is right and why the distractors are wrong. Your attempt history tracks accuracy by exam and domain.

Role Play — Immersive GRC Scenarios

Real GRC work isn't multiple choice. It's explaining a control gap to a sceptical auditor, briefing the board on risk posture, or navigating a vendor who won't remediate a finding.

Role Play puts you into 16 realistic scenarios — from external audit walkthroughs and incident response tabletops to M&A due diligence and crisis communications. Each scenario pairs you with an AI conversation partner who plays a specific persona: an auditor, a regulator, a business stakeholder, or a vendor.

You choose a difficulty (Standard, Challenging, or Adversarial) and then have a back-and-forth conversation, responding as you would in the real situation. When you end the session, you receive an evaluation covering your performance, strengths, and specific areas to improve.

GRC Tools — AI-Powered Workflow Assistance

These aren't practice features — they're tools for real work. GRC Tools uses AI to accelerate the tasks that eat up hours every week in a GRC team.

There are currently 17 tools covering:

• Document generation — draft policies, board narratives, risk descriptions, and threat assessments
• Data population — generate audit findings, business continuity plans, incident records, metrics, regulatory obligations, and ROPA entries
• Assessments — gap assessments, maturity scoring, vendor assessments, and AI scenario evaluations
• Quality assurance — coach reviews that check your work and suggest improvements

Each tool is a focused interface for a single task. Feed it the relevant context, and it generates review-ready output that you can refine and use directly. It won't replace your judgement, but it will cut the drafting time significantly.
